GQEBERHA – Upon further investigation into the alleged kidnapping incident that took place today, 30 October in Parkside, SAPS confirmed that what was believed to have been a kidnapping turned out to be a hijacking incident.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, the victim who was believed to be kidnapped had been released safely and reunited with their family.
She added that the victim opened a case of hijacking at the police station after they were released.
“At this time, it is believed that the suspects were targeting the delivery vehicle rather than the victim.”
A hijacking case was opened by SAPS and the investigation is ongoing.
