Today, Monday, January 27, in the Gqeberha High Court,
businessman Arnold Terblanche and Reinhardt Leach appeared for charges linked
to the murder of Terblanche’s estranged wife, Vicki Terblanche. The proceedings
were overseen by Regional Court President Samson Dunywa.

Arnold Terblanche arrived at the court, accompanied by his
legal team, wearing a striped suit, and maintaining a resolute demeanor as he
entered the courtroom.

Reinhardt Leach, dressed in a blue shirt, appeared
well-groomed and briefly interacted with his father before the session
commenced. Emotional strains were palpable as Leach’s mother was seen crying
even before the proceedings began.

During the session, the state’s attorney presented
amendments to the indictment. Five witness affidavits, dated January 2025, were
submitted for the first time.

This late provision raised concerns from the defense about
potential prejudice to Terblanche’s case, with suggestions that should this
reoccur, a trial within a trial might be necessary.

In the courtroom, Accused 1, Leach, pleaded guilty to all
charges against him, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and
obstruction of justice. In contrast, Accused 2, Arnold Terblanche, pleaded not
guilty, specifically refuting allegations of attempting to bribe judges and
persuade a co-accused to change statements in his favour.

Terblanche
is currently out on a R1 million bail, whereas Leach remains in custody
following a denied bail request in July.

At the close of the day’s session, the state requested to
adjourn the matter until tomorrow (Tuesday, January 28) at 10:00.

As Leach prepared to depart, he briefly conversed with his
parents, sharing a moment of affection before returning to custody.
