Body of male (26) recovered from North End Lake after fishing boat accident

SAPS divers recovered the body of a 26-year-old foreign national who drowned after a fishing raft capsized at North End Lake. One victim survived.

SAPS divers recovered the body of a 26-year-old male who drowned in the North End Lake, last night, April 29. The incident occurred when two foreign nationals were fishing, and their boat capsized.

Reporting on the incident, Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said, “At approximately 20:00, they used a raft for fishing, but it capsized. One of the victims managed to swim to the shore.”

“The name of the deceased will be released once the next of kin have been informed,” she added.

An inquest was opened for further investigation.
