Two armed suspects robbed a business in Salamtu Street, Kwazakele, on Monday night, April 14, making off with cash, cell phones and alcohol.

According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 21:20, the complainant was at his business premises on Salamtu Street, Kwazakele, which was already closed for business.

She said the complainant was called by a colleague and told to open the door.

“Two suspects entered with firearms wearing masks. They threatened the complainant who opened the door for them to enter.

“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register; they also took the cell phones of the complainant.

“The suspects continued to the shop area, where approximately 15 more suspects with firearms were waiting. The suspects opened the ATM and took the cash boxes inside and left the business on foot. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, six cell phones and alcohol,” she reported.

Janse van Rensburg stated that a case of business robbery was opened, and the investigation is ongoing.
