The crowdfunding campaign set up to support the family of murdered Paige Bell had raised over $50,000 (about R892 000) from 647 donations by Friday morning.
Bell, who was working as a stewardess aboard the superyacht Far From It, was murdered on the luxury vessel in the Bahamas on 3 July. She is a former pupil of Hillcrest High School in KwaZulu-Natal.
According to the official GoFundMe page, The fund was launched by past and present crew members of the motor yacht Sweet Emocean, where Bell had worked until December 2024.
“Paige was more than a teammate – she was family. Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion left an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her,” said Captain Frank Prest of Sweet Emocean.
“We also ask for your prayers – for strength, comfort, and peace – for her family and all who loved her.”

Birthday plans in South Africa
Bell had planned to return to South Africa to celebrate her 21st birthday with friends and family on 14 July.
“In honor of Paige, her mother has asked that we all eat red velvet cake (her favourite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was,” Prest added.
According to international news reports, Bell was found partially undressed, with slash wounds to her neck and defensive injuries on her arms.
Brigido Munoz (39), a Mexican national who worked as an engineer on the yacht, was arrested in connection with the murder. He appeared in court on Wednesday and was denied bail.
Bell’s parents, Michael and John, travelled to the Bahamas earlier this week to “fight for justice and begin the painful process of bringing their baby girl home,” reported the Daily Mail.
