KARIEGA – SAPS Kariega opened a case of attempted murder, following a shooting incident that took place yesterday afternoon, 23 October, in Kariega CBD.
SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said that according to preliminary information gathered, it is alleged that at approximately 16:35, the victim was sitting in his vehicle in Durban Road, Kariega, when a grey VW Polo stopped next to him.
“Four suspects disembarked and started shooting at the victim from all directions.”
Janse Van Rensburg added that the suspects jumped back into the VW Polo and sped away. “The 49-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a private vehicle.”
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body.
The motive and the suspects are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
