A 55-year-old Gqeberha man has died following his girlfriend allegedly throwing boiling water over him while he was asleep in his New Brighton home on April 23.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, the man’s name was Nyameko Mdoda.
Reporting on the incident, Janse van Rensburg said at about 23:00, the man was sleeping in his bed in his house on Ntshekisa Street.
She stated Mdoda’s girlfriend allegedly got boiling water and threw it over him.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment but later passed away,” she revealed.
“No one has been arrested. The Investigating Officer is awaiting medical reports from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.”
