Hit-and-run claims woman’s life on R75

Hours after a tragic accident that claimed the lives of twin siblings, a 56-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on the R75 near Dora Nginza Hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses to assist with the investigation.

Hours later, a 56-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on the R75 near Dora Nginza Hospital on March 26, following an earlier accident that claimed the lives of twin siblings.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge stated that the woman was killed at the scene.

“She was allegedly struck by an unknown vehicle, which drove off without stopping,” he added.

According to Beetge, at approximately 20:00, SAPS KwaZakhele attended to an accident where a woman was knocked over by a vehicle on the R75 while attempting to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing.

A culpable homicide case has been opened and is being investigated by SAPS KwaZakhele.

“SAPS is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information that could assist the police with this investigation to contact SAPS KwaZakhele Detectives, Detective Captain Arries, at 082 442 0963 or, alternatively, Crime Stop at 08600 10111.”
