As the only crude oil refinery in the southwest of South Africa, our facility ensures a secure supply of fuel and significantly contributes to the economy. We maintain a safe and efficient product supply network through 15 terminals across Southern Africa, serving a diverse customer base, including retail service stations, commercial, industrial, and marine sectors.
Our Durban lubricants plant produces innovative products for various markets, available at our service stations. We recognize that the fuel industry has evolved; a brand focused solely on fuel is no longer sufficient. Our rebrand from Caltex to Astron Energy offers a fresh perspective, enhancing the customer experience.

You may have seen our fresh and distinctive orange and purple uniforms at a forecourt near you. You have probably seen our television commercials that WELCOME everyone to Astron Energy. We intend building on our admirable legacy spanning over a century in South Africa and our extensive national footprint to become South Africa’s next biggest fuel brand.

As the only crude oil refinery in the in the south-west of South Africa, our facility and related infrastructure plays a critical role ensuring security of supply. Our refinery is also a significant economic contributor to South Africa.
We operate a safe, reliable and efficient product supply network from 15 terminals across Southern Africa, to a customer base including not only branded retail service stations but also commercial, industrial, transport, agricultural, energy, aviation and marine markets.
Our lubricants plant in Durban produces innovative and flagship brands and specialised lubricants for industrial, commercial and consumer markets. These products are available at our network of service stations across South Africa. We understand that the world of fuel has changed. A fuel brand focused solely on a fuel offering simply isn’t going to cut it.
