The Eastern Cape Hawks have confirmed that the kidnapped Gqeberha teacher was reunited with her family last night on March 26.

The Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba, said, “Owing to sufficient pressure exerted by the multidisciplinary team, including the task team of the Hawks, we can confirm that the victim was safely reunited with her family.”

He added that the matter is still under investigation and urged anyone with information that could help accelerate their investigation to come forward.

Earlier, PE Express reported that a ransom was demanded by the suspects for the release of the teacher, but the amount was not disclosed.

The staff member from Happydale Special School was reportedly kidnapped upon her arrival at the school by at least three male suspects in Algoa Park driving a white Toyota Corolla.

Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is urged to contact Detective Warrant Officer Mike Joni on 071 475 1891 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
