KwaDwesi suspect arrested in ongoing crime prevention operation

A 30-year-old man was arrested in KwaDwesi after police uncovered drugs during a daily crime prevention operation by SAPS Nelson Mandela Bay on May 5.

A 30-year-old alleged drug dealer was arrested in KwaDwesi on May 5 during a daily targeted crime prevention operation conducted by SAPS Nelson Mandela Bay across various areas of the Metro.

According to SAPS spokesperson, Captain André Beetge, the arrest followed valuable intelligence pursued by the SAPS KwaDwesi Crime Prevention Unit, supported by members of Operation ‘Bamba’.

“During a search of a house on Mthonga Street, Zinyoka, KwaDwesi, authorities discovered a significant quantity of narcotics in the suspect’s possession and on the premises,” he said.

The confiscated drugs included:

86 Mandrax tablets

22 medium bags of Cat

11 small bags of Cat

6 large black bags of dagga

12 small bags of dagga ‘bompies’

39 dagga ‘zolls’

R1 760 in cash (suspected to be drug proceeds)

Beetge added that the suspect faces charges of drug dealing and is scheduled to appear before the New Brighton Magistrates’ Court today, May 7.
