GQEBERHA – A medical practitioner (53) was arrested yesterday, 18 November 2025, on charges of alleged rape and sexual assault of at least five victims by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.
According to a SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, between September and October 2020, five female victims reported to the SAPS and opened criminal cases against the medical practitioner.
The suspect, accompanied by his lawyer, was asked by SAPS to present himself as he no longer resides in Gqeberha. He was subsequently arrested by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit yesterday following a lengthy and thorough investigation.
“He was arrested on a charge of rape and four counts of sexual assault,” Janse Van Rensburg added.
The suspect appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail of R5,000. He will appear again on 10 February 2026.
