According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, an inquest docket was opened for investigation at the time of the discovery.

She said that following further forensic processes, a facial reconstruction of the skeleton has been completed to establish the identity of the deceased.

“SAPS Chatty detectives are now requesting the assistance of the community, who may recognise the facial reconstruction or have information regarding a person who went missing around that period,” said Janse Van Rensburg.

Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the deceased is urged to contact SAPS Chatty on 071 475 1955 or their nearest police station, or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
