Detectives at SAPS Bethelsdorp are urgently seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the next of kin and the identity of a woman whose body was found at a dumping site in Rietkuil Road in Booysen Park yesterday afternoon, 5 March.

According to Col Priscilla Naidu, police spokesperson, it is alleged that at about 14:00 on Friday a member of public, who went to dump rubble on an open dumping site on the gravel road linking Bethelsdorp and Greenbushes, was informed by a vagrant about a semi-burnt body lying in an open space.

“Police were immediately alerted and the body of a female was found. The body was in the advanced state of decomposition.

“Police suspect that the body may have been lying at the dump for about 3-4 weeks. Her head, arms and back were covered in black soot. Her black hair was also partially burnt. Her face is not recognisable. She was wearing a blue top,” Naidu said.

It is alleged that the deceased is a coloured female, between 20 and 30 years old. On her right shoulder, she has a tattoo of a flower.

Police are investigating a case of murder.

Anyone who can assist in the murder investigation or identifying the woman, tracing her next of kin or know of any female that may be missing for some time, is asked to contact D/Lt Col  Allan Stuurman at SAPS Bethelsdorp on 071 608 1641 or Crime Stop 08600 1011 or their nearest police station.
