The Detective officers of the Nelson Mandela Bay district had conducted raids on suspects and successfully apprehended 44 individuals. This occurred during the evening of April 9 and the early morning of April 9, 2025, across the metro.
According to SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, the operation that was conducted comprised of detective officials from 17 stations and specialised units. The tracing of wanted and known suspects began on April 9 at 21:00. It continued until 05:00 on the morning of April 10, 2025. The main focus of the operation was to search for and arrest outstanding suspects wanted for serious and violent crimes.
She added, “The arrests included suspects wanted for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs, robbery, housebreaking, possession of suspected stolen property, domestic violence, theft, theft of motor vehicles as well as petty crimes.”
All the arrested suspects will appear in their respective courts soon.

The Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata, commended the commitment and determination of the detective officers across the metro.
“The success of our investigations depends largely on the arrest and successful prosecutions of perpetrators. These operations will continue until our objectives of ensuring that criminals are brought before the courts are achieved,” Major General Ncata concluded.
