Gqeberha businessman Rob Evans (58) briefly appeared in the Regional Court in Humansdorp today, 18 August.

The Algoa Plastics boss is accused of murdering his 36-year-old girlfriend, Vanessa Van Rensburg, earlier this year during Easter weekend at his holiday home in Oyster Bay.
As previously reported by the Express, Evans’ bail was denied last month after he was found to be untruthful to the court and failed to provide exceptional circumstances for his Schedule 6 offence.
He was arrested at his business premises in Newton on May 9 for the murder of his girlfriend.
Evans’ attorney, Danie Gouws, was not present in court during his appearance.
His matter was remanded to 22 September for further investigation.
Unlike previous proceedings, the courtroom was not full, with only Evans’ daughters present, accompanied by an older man.
