GQEBERHA – Gqeberha came alive with SA20 excitement as the Schools Tour brought cricket, culture and unstoppable youth energy to Greenwood Primary School in the Eastern Cape.

With just 26 days to go until the start of SA20 Season 4, the visit transformed an ordinary school day into a vibrant celebration of community, creativity and the passion that defines the #OrangeArmy.

Designed as a nationwide build-up to Season 4, the SA20 Schools Tour reconnects with communities across the country, bringing players, legends, entertainers and the spirit of the league directly to young fans.

According to a statement, learners at Greenwood Primary erupted with excitement as Sunrisers Eastern Cape stars CJ King and Patrick Kruger stepped onto the field. They answered questions, signed bats, posed for photos and joined the learners in interactive moments that blended cricket with culture.

CJ King said, “Being here today was truly special. With fewer than 30 days to go until SA20 Season 4, you can feel the excitement building among the learners. Their energy, especially when helping curate the official Spotify playlist for the season, was unforgettable.”

Patrick Kruger added, “The kids brought unbelievable spirit. Greenwood embraces differently-abled learners with so much care and respect. Seeing that inclusivity reminds us exactly what the SA20 promise of Everybody Welcome really means.”

The statement added that the day also featured cricket legend Makhaya Ntini, whose return to the Eastern Cape drew huge applause. Ntini spent time playing with the kids, offering advice and encouraging them to dream boldly.

Makhaya Ntini said, “Today at Greenwood Primary, I saw passion that truly moved me. These learners reflect the heart of South Africa. Their joy and togetherness remind us why sport matters. I will carry this moment with me.”

Adding even more energy to the day was YoungstaCPT, one of South Africa’s most recognisable hip-hop voices. The statement said, “Youngsta delivered a powerful freestyle performance that blended rhythm, culture and pure creativity. Learners shouted random words and he instantly transformed them into sharp, clever verses that set off waves of cheering, laughter and dance.”

Youngsta has built a career grounded in authenticity, community stories and a deep commitment to inspiring young people across the country.

The tour was hosted by the dynamic TV and radio presenter Anele Mdoda and the Sunrisers 20th Player. Anele kept spirits high, leading the school in moments featuring the Season 4 anthem “Put Your Hands Up”, with learners dancing, chanting and celebrating together.

With the 26-day countdown officially underway, Sunrisers Eastern Cape fans still have a chance to secure their seats for a blockbuster summer. The team returns to St George’s Park on Monday 29 December, and tickets for all five home matches are selling fast.

The statement encouraged supporters to book early to enjoy world-class cricket and an electric match-day atmosphere in the heart of Gqeberha.

Tickets are available at the official website or at the stadium ticket office.

The SA20 Final at Newlands on Sunday, 25 January is also approaching a full sell-out. “General access tickets are sold out, but a limited number of premium hospitality packages remain available,” the statement said.

These include the best views, world-class catering and a half-time performance by Will Linley. Hospitality packages can be secured at the official hospitality website.
