The Hawks have activated a Special Kidnapping Task Team in Gqeberha following the recent abductions of two individuals, Juan Yang (43) and Arshad Mahmood (47), in separate incidents last week. Yang was last seen traveling between Cleary Park Shopping Centre and Kenako Mall on February 13, while Mahmood, 47, was kidnapped outside his business in Korsten a day later, February 13.
“Yang’s vehicle, a white Volkswagen Polo, was later found abandoned in Sakela Street, KwaZakhele. At this stage, no further details are available,” stated Janse Van Rensburg.
She reported that in the second incident, which occurred today, February 14 at approximately 05:45, Arshad Mahmood (47) was allegedly kidnapped outside his business in Korsten
Investigations into these two incidents are ongoing, and there are no known motives behind the kidnappings.
Janse Van Rensburg stated that the police have opened a case of kidnapping and urge anyone with information that could assist them in bringing the perpetrators to justice to either contact Captain Christian Rowan on 082 442 1457, call SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or visit their nearest police station.
“All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and callers may remain anonymous,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
This follows the kidnapping of businessman Ebrahim Moosa, 74, who was abducted outside his workplace three days ago on February 11.

As previously reported by the Express, police reports stated that Ebrahim Moosa stopped at his workplace in Cuyler Street, Kruisrivier, where it was alleged that another vehicle followed him into the premises and blocked him. Three suspects got out of the vehicle and forced him into a double-cab LDV, after which the suspects drove off in an unknown direction.
