SAPS management in the Nelson Mandela Bay District urges the community to be cautious and not respond to fake recruitment messages doing the rounds on social media.
According to the SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, the following fake message has been circulated: “Hey everyone. If you know someone who aspires to be a police officer and is around PE (Gqeberha), please ask them to go to Mount Road Police station ASAP for an interview, they must look for Captain Ngcobo (064 847 2679) they must be between the ages of 18-35 and if they happen to pass the interview they will be required to start training next week.”
She urges that the community not to respond to the WhatsApp or SMS message because this is not the SAPS recruitment policy.
Janse Van Rensburg added, “The SAPS have specific policies in place for recruitment and using WhatsApp or SMS is not one of them. SAPS jobs are also not for sale and the community is warned not to pay any money in the hope of securing jobs.”
