A seventh suspect linked to the abduction of 62-year-old Gqeberha single mother, Tracey Fourie, was arrested yesterday, 3 September.
The arrest comes from a joint operation between the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, Gqeberha Crime Intelligence, the Local Criminal Record Centre, and private security firms including Magma Security and Investigations, Dark Water Ops, and Atlas Security, as investigators continue their relentless pursuit of the kidnapping syndicate.
According to the Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba, six suspects are already before the New Law Courts and remain in custody following their arrests. “The latest suspect had evaded capture during the initial takedown, but persistent intelligence-driven surveillance left him with nowhere to hide,” he said.
Fumba added, “On 2 September 2025, the Hawks investigators tracked the suspect to a monitored location in New Brighton. A swift precision-led operation was executed, resulting in his arrest.”
He is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Courts today, 4 September, where he will join his co-accused in facing charges related to the kidnapping.
The Provincial Head of the Hawks, Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya, hailed the breakthrough. He stated, “Criminals may run, but they cannot hide. We will track them down, we will dismantle their networks and we will ensure justice is served.”
