At least six suspects will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate Court on April 24, after allegedly using a toy gun to rob two women on April 20, in Summerstrand.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, on Thursday at approximately 12:30, SAPS Public Order Police were patrolling in Summerstrand when they spotted a suspect running after allegedly robbing two women.
“A foot and vehicle chase ensued. The suspect jumped into a silver grey Mercedes Benz, that was waiting for him at 4th Avenue in Marine Drive. The vehicle was intercepted and the six occupants, aged between 23 and 29 were apprehended and the stolen property recovered,” said Janse van Rensburg.
She further said a replica firearm was also confiscated.
Janse van Rensburg said the suspects were detained on charges of robbery and the Mercedes Benz was also impounded for further investigation.
She said they are expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate Court on Monday, April 24.
