GQEBERHA – Sophisticate Models marked a significant milestone on Saturday evening, hosting its 36th annual Top Model of the Year gala at the historic Feather Market Centre.

The prestigious event showcased over 90 finalists across seven age categories, culminating three months of intensive training in runway and photographic modelling. This year’s competition centred on Photographic Modelling and Runway Prowess, with participants demonstrating their skills before an esteemed panel of judges.

The photographic round was adjudicated by Clarise Stander, Ronel Arnoldus and international photographic and runway model Delon le Roux, whilst the runway segment was evaluated live by Chief Judge Morne Van Der Schyff, alongside Trish Basson, Averil Packrisamy, Siphosihle Blanket and Clarise Stander.

Owner and Principal Gail Brown, who has dedicated nearly four decades to the modelling industry, reflected on her enduring passion for the craft.

“I still love what I do after 37 years,” Brown shared with evident enthusiasm.

“My love and passion for ramp modelling and working with children all started in 1982 when I discovered my love to help develop the self-esteem and self-confidence of other models. I truly believe there is a place in the modelling industry for every model who has commitment, drive and positivity.”

The evening’s winners represented the finest talent across all age groups. Lealyn Nelson claimed the Kiddies category, whilst Athayanda Deppa triumphed in Juniors and Esothando Kaza secured the TeenyBobs title.

In the Teens category, Megan-Anne Rautenbach emerged victorious, with Kathlene Taylor taking the Seniors crown. The male categories saw Javen Anthony winning Junior Boys and Buhlali Klaas claiming the Senior Males title.
