Two people were killed and four, including three children under the age of 7 years, injured in a single-vehicle crash on the N2 near Colchester yesterday, July 10.
According to police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, a grey Nissan Tiida was travelling towards Nelson Mandela Bay when the driver allegedly overtook another vehicle, lost control and overturned.
The accident occurred at approximately 16:00.
“Two passengers in the vehicle passed away on the scene. Their names are David Fourie and Bridgette De Grass. Their ages are unknown,” Beetge said.
He added that the 34-year-old male driver and three injured children, a 5-year-old boy and two girls, aged three and six years, were taken to hospital. Some of the survivors had to be airlifted by an emergency services helicopter.
A culpable homicide case is being investigated by Swartkops police.
